My healing Journey
Hi, my name is Laura Sexton. I am a qualified Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist. I was 59 years old and at a difficult crossroads in my life when I found craniosacral therapy.
Having worked as a natural horsemanship trainer for many years, holding clinics not only in Ireland, but also in Europe, I found myself with severely compromised mobility and in chronic pain after two traumatic accidents. At the same time I was struggling with two autoimmune disorders.
I had loved helping people with their horses and a large part of my identity and wellbeing was tied up in that role, so not only did I have to come to terms with that part of my life coming to an end, but I also had to try to get well again.
In my quest to heal, and accept the realities of my new life, I turned to many healing modalities: acupuncture, shiatsu, herbal medicine, homeopathy, breathwork, to name but a few. All of these therapies aided me on my journey but it was while studying at the college of naturopathic medicine, with the intention of majoring in acupuncture that I discovered the power of craniosacral therapy.
It was Craniosacral Therapy that enabled me to transition from a life of limitations to one of possibilities. Cranio helped me to make a paradigm shift in my thinking, allowing me to let go of everything that was preventing me from embodying a new version of myself. I began to focus on what was good about my life rather than focusing on what I had lost or on what was wrong.
I then started the biodynamic craniosacral therapy qualification with Body Intelligence. The new awareness that Craniosacral therapy has given me is what I hope to pass on, providing a safe environment and supporting others to begin their own healing journey so that they can thrive in their lives. After qualifying I started practising at the well known healing centre “River Holistic” in Raheny in North Dublin. That was a a great experience and I will be ever grateful to its founder Claire for giving me that opportunity. I now work from my own practice in Clontarf in Dublin, two minutes from the Clontarf DART station .
I also offer Distance healing sessions done while you stay in the comfort of your own home. I pursued postgraduate training with world renowned teacher Etienne Peirsman in Italy. I have worked with Liza Borodkin of Sacred Recreation. I am currently doing a mother and baby post-graduate course with the Forrest School of Biodynamics
I really look forward to meeting you and helping you on your journey.
